Two abducted girls rescued in Satkhira, Khulna
Police rescued two abducted young girls, one from the district and the other from Khulna on Monday.
A 17-year-old girl, abducted by criminals while going to college in Assassuni upazila of the district on May 5, was rescued by police from a house at Bagularchak village in Paikgachha upazila in Khulna on Monday.
Police also arrested alleged abductor Manirul Islam Karikar, 20, son of Abdul Hakim Karikar of Basudevpur village in Assassuni upazila.
The victim is daughter of Abdur Rahim Gazi of Basudevpur village and a first year student at Acharya Prafulla Chandra College in Paikgachha upazila.
Quoting relatives of the victim police said, the girl was abducted by a gang led by Manirul Islam while going to college from Garali sluice gate area in Paikgachha upazila at about 10:30 am on May 5.
They took her to Bagularchak village and confined her to the house of Mosharraf Hossain at Bagularchak village.
Victim's father Abdur Rahim Gazi filed a case with Assassuni PS on May 6. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by sub-inspector (SI) Asgar Ali raided the house at Bagularchak village on Monday night, arrested Manirul and rescued the girl.
In another drive, police rescued another girl, abducted from Goaltali village in Chowgachha upazila in Jessore, from a house at Keragacchi village in Kalaroa upazila on Monday.
They also arrested three people, Khorshed Ali, 35, son of Abdullah, Billal Hossain, 28, son of Syed Ali and Laltu, 26, son of Lutfar Rahman of Keragachhi village in Kalaroa upazila on charge of abduction.
The victim is a 12-year-old daughter of Abdul Alim of Goaltali village. She was abducted by criminals while going to Goaltali Dakhil Madrasha on May 19.
The criminals later brought her to Karagachhi, a bordering village in Kalaroa upazila, and demanded Tk 2 lakh ransom from the victim's parents.
But the victim's parents informed the matter to police who raided the village, rescued the girl and arrested the alleged abductors.
