2 housewives murdered in Satkhira, Natore
Two housewives were murdered in Satkhira and Natore districts yesterday and the day before.
A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband at Datina Khali village in Shyamnagar upazila for dowry yesterday, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
The victim was identified as Rahima Khatun, 20, wife of Saidul Islam of the village.
Quoting local people police said, Rahima, daughter of Lokman Ali of Khutikata village was married to Saidul Islam of Datina Khali village about two years ago.
Recently Saidul demanded dowry from Rahima's parents and started to torture her for it, the victim's parents alleged.
Yesterday morning, the husband beat up Rahima mercilessly leaving her seriously injured, police said.
She was taken to Shyamnagar upazila health complex in critical condition where she succumbed to her injuries at about 11:35 am.
Police recovered the body with several marks of injuries and sent it to Satkhira morgue for postmortem.
Victim's father Lokman Hossain filed a case with Shyamnagar PS accusing Saidul Islam. But the accused went into hiding soon after incident, police said.
In Natore, a housewife was strangled by criminals in North Patuapara area of the district town early Sunday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Renu Begum, 36, wife of trader Kabiruddin of the area.
Police said, breaking open the door, a gang entered into the house of Kabir late at night in his absence and strangled his wife.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The motive behind the murder could not be known immediately.
Police detained one Liton of the area for interrogation.
