3 abducted kids rescued, one arrested in Kushtia
Police rescued three abducted children and arrested one person in this connection in the town yesterday.
The arrestee is an imam of a mosque, police said.
According to police, three children -- Hridoy, 8, son of Motiar Rahman and Laden, 10, and Azizul, 12, son of Saha Alam -- of Chilmari in Daulatpur upazila in the district went missing on Friday.
Fathers of the children filed separate general dairies (GD) with Daulatpur police station in this regard.
A joint team of Detective Branch (DB) and Daulatpur police raided a place at Chourhas in the town on information that Rezwanul Islam, imam of Chilmari mosque, was standing there with one of the missing boys, Hridoy, at about 11:30am.
Police rescued the boy and caught Rezwanul red-handed from the spot.
They later arrested the imam as he failed to give any satisfactory reply to the questions regarding the boy.
Based on the imam's information, police raided a passenger bus in Hosanabad area in Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia at about 12:30pm and rescued the other two boys -- Laden and Azizul.
Police said, Rezwanul is a member of the inter-district trafficking syndicate.
Hailing from Ramakantapur in Salta upazila in Faridpur, Rezwanul had been serving at the mosque for the last three years.
Police are interrogating him till filing of this report at about 4:30pm yesterday.
