One killed as fishermen clash
One person was killed and more than 10 others were injured in a clash over catching fish in Hakaluki Haor yesterday.
The clash took place between rival groups of two upazilas of two districts.
The deceased was identified as Sujit Biswas, 35, of Adampur village of Baralekha upazila. The injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
According to Baralekha police and local people, a group of fishermen of Baralekha upazila went for fishing at Palbhanga Beel at Hakaluki Haor. Another group from Fenchuganj upazila under Sylhet district prevented the rivals, triggering a bloody clash.
The fishermen of Baralekha upazila alleged that their opponents fired several rounds killing Sujit and injuring others.
