9 injured as boiler explodes in Dinajpur

At least nine people were injured as a boiler of an automatic rice mill exploded at Bottoli in Dinajpur Sadar upazila on Wednesday night. The injured are Maya, 27, wife of Gopen Chandra Roy of Gosaipur village, Saiful Islam, 50, son of Afaz Uddin, Bakul Begum, 25, wife of Azizul Islam, Hamida Banu, 28, wife of late Zillur Rahman, Bibijan Begum, 28, wife of Basir Mohammad, Jyotsna Begum, 26, Niru Akhter, 30, Shefali Akhter, 31, and her four-year-old daughter Armina Begum. They all hail from Gosaipur village under Sadar upazila. They were rushed to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital. Three of them, Maya, Bakul and Hamida, were later referred to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated, hospital sources said. The incident occurred at Anjali Automatic Rice Mill at around 8:00pm. Being informed, Fire Brigade personnel from Dinajpur district headquarters rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital. Contacted, owner of the rice mill Ranjit Bashak said he will bear the expenses for treatment of the injured workers.
