Tarin Rape in Jamalpur
Main accused held from Gazipur
Police yesterday arrested the main accused in the case for rape of eight-year-old Tarin, from Gazipura Khortoil area under Tongi upazila of Gazipur district.
Arrestee Harun-or-Rashid, 38, hailed from Paschimpar Dighuli village under Jamalpur Sadar upazila.
On secret information, a Sadar police team led by inspector (Investigation) Md. Ramizul Haque, also investigation officer (IO) of the case, caught Harun from the area at about 11.30am.
Earlier police arrested two other accused -- Jamal, 35, and Abdul Karim alias Kana Kori, 40 -- of the same village, who allegedly helped Harun to suppress the heinous act through a monetary deal.
Raped allegedly by Harun on April 8, Tarin, daughter of Chan Mia of village Patilakura under Sadar upazila, remained untreated for days and finally died on April 17 night.
Victim's grandmother Rawshan Ara filed a case accusing six people including Harun-or-Rashid and the two arrestees on April 18.
