BCL activists vandalise Thakurgaon power office
A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists vandalised 'complaint centre' of a power office on Saturday night.
They also assaulted a staff on duty.
In protest, the workers of PDB threatened that they will start indefinite work abstention if the authorities did not take proper action against the attackers.
General Secretary of District Power Workers' League Samsul Alam said, on Saturday night a group of BCL activists led by Asaduzzaman Pulok attacked the office at about 7:30pm. They also vandalised the furniture, official papers and assaulted complaint attendant Aminul Haque.
Although Pulok attacked our colleague on the plea that power line at his house was not repaired, in fact it was done at about 5:00pm on that day, Samsul Alam said.
Contacted, executive engineer of Thakurgaon Power Development Board Nurul Islam said he filed a case with Thakurgaon police station accusing 12/13 including Asaduzzaman Pulok, president of Thakurgaon Government College unit of Chhatra League (BCL).
Refuting charges of attack on PDB staff, Pulok said that they went to the office to ask the PDB men to repair his house's line as they were not doing the work despite telling them repeatedly in the last five days.
