Jubo League activist killed in Sylhet
Criminals killed an activist of Awami Jubo League, youth front of the ruling Awami League (AL) in the city's Islampur area on Saturday night.
The dead was identified as Abdul Mannan, 32, son of Abdul Quadir of Falguni residential area.
Family sources said at about 7:00 pm, Mannan went out of the house and at about 10:30 pm they received a phone call. It said that Mannan's body was lying at an under-construction house near Islampur bazaar.
On information, police and Rab officials went to the area. They recovered the body that bore several marks of stab wounds on his chest.
The deceased was an accused in a number of criminal cases including that of robbery, locals and police said. Recently his relation with one of his close aides went sour, they said.
However, Mannan's father hinted that the murder might have taken place over the upcoming union parishad (UP) election as Mannan's maternal uncle was contesting the polls.
