16 sued on charge of Pabna JCD leader murder
Sixteen people were sued yesterday on charge of killing JCD leader Shafikul Islam Shafique.
Bera police recovered the decomposed body of Shafique from Kazirhat bailey bridge point of the Jamuna River in Bera upazila on Saturday evening.
“The body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. On completion of autopsy, it was handed to the victim's family yesterday,” Sub- Inspector Johir Uddin, in charge of Aminpur police camp under Bera upazila said.
Meanwhile, the officer in-charge (OC) of Santhia police station SM Bazlur Rashid said that the victim's family filed a case yesterday accusing 16 people of the village.
Victim's mother Sufia Khatun filed the case at noon, the OC said.
“In the case, the complainant claimed that a clash look place on May 10 over setting up an electric pole in the village. At that time a few people threatened to kill Shafique. Later he was abducted from Bera CNB bus stand on May 11”, Santhia OC said.
Police is investigating the matter and the drive is on to nab the criminals, he added.
Criminals hacked to death Shafikul Islam Shafique, 32, son of Hossain Biswas of Nandanpur village in Santhia upazila, also organising secratery of Santhia upazila unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and dumped the body into Jamuna river.
Police recovered the body from the river at Kazirhat point in Bera upazila on Saturday evening.
