One jailed for murder
A court here sent a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) on Wednesday for killing his father-in-law. The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer more six years RI. The convict was identified as Nazrul Islam Sumon, son of Faizun Nur of village Bhanda in Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj district. According to the prosecution, Sumon used to torture his wife Rozina Akter most often. Sumon stabbed Rozina's father Shamur Mia when he came and protested the torture on his daughter on April 19, 2009. The injured was admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead.
