100 acres illegally occupied by realtors in Kuakata freed

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) conducted a drive on Kuakata sea beach on Saturday and recovered at least 100 acres of khas land worth about Tk 350 crore from illegal possession of 18 realtors. A team of Rab-8 launched the five-hour drive from 11:00am and demolished illegal structures erected by the developers on government's land and removed their signboards and billboards in presence of Executive Magistrate Taufiqur Rahman. Lt Nuruzzaman, commander of Rab-8, said the illegal structures erected by 18 developers, grabbing land on the see beach were demolished during the drive. Signboards and billboards put up on the beach by the realtors were also removed by the elite force, he added.
