Killers' men threaten victim's family

Family members of a slain barber have alleged that the relatives of five accused are putting pressure on them to withdraw the case of face serious consequences. They said the relatives of the five are also threatening to evict them from their homestead and kill another member of the family. “We informed the police about the threats yesterday and the day before, but no actions have been taken yet,” they alleged. Pallab Chandro Shil, 23, son of Monoranjan Shil of Saheb Danga village under Patgram upazila, was strangled by a gang at his salon in Patgram town on the night of April 1. The gang took away Tk 20,000 and his mobile set. Pallab's body was recovered from the shop the following morning and his father filed a murder case with Patgram Police Station the same day. Tracking Pallab's mobile phone, police arrested Rezaul Karim, 22, of Anandapur village of the same upazila and then arrested four other accused--Yusuf Rahman Liton, 21, Shahin Islam, 22, Habibul Islam, 21, and Sumon Miah alias Babu , 27, of the village. The arrestees were produced in a court that sent them to jail. Contacted, Sub-Inspector Farid Uddin, also the instigation officer (IO) of the case, said they will investigate the allegations brought by Pallab's family and take necessary steps to ensure security of the family.
