Youth jailed for stalking, three others arrested
Two youths were held for stalking, another for bid to abduct a girl in Laxmipur while one more was jailed for sexually harassing a housewife in Kushtia on Monday and the day before.
Two stalkers were arrested for sexually harassing two female students at Hasandi village in Sadar upazila of Laxmipur on Monday.
The arrestees were identified as Shamim, 20, son of late Ruhul Amin and Ariful Islam Sumon, 18, son of late Shamsul Islam of the village, reports UNB.
Police said the two stalkers used to tease class X student of Hasandi High School Mili Akhtar, 15, daughter of Mijanur Rahman, and class VII student Airin Akhtar, 12, daughter of Toslim Uddin of the same village on their way to school since long.
On Monday noon they entered the classrooms of Mili and Airin to woo them in presence of other students.
Hearing students' hue and cry, teachers rushed in and caught the stalkers and later handed them over to police.
Another young man was arrested while trying to abduct a female madrassa student at Mohadebpur village in Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday.
The arrestee was identified as Belal Hossain, 20, son of Sekandar Bepari of the village.
Police quoting local sources said Belal used to sexually harass Marjahan Akter, 15, daughter of Sharif Hossain and a class X student of local Enayetia Dakhil Madrassa on her way to madrassa since long.
On Sunday morning Belal tried to pick up Marjahan on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw while she was returning from her private tutor's house.
Hearing her cry for help, students and teachers of the madrassa rushed to the spot and caught Belal red- handed.
Later, he was handed over to police.
In Kushtia, a mobile court on Sunday afternoon sentenced a young man to 40 days' imprisonment for stalking a housewife.
Convict Mehedi Hasan, 20, is son of Tarachad of Poranpur in Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga. Mehedi is a higher secondary (HSC) student, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
Court and victim's family sources said Mehedi used to tease a housewife for the last one year.
He also made an indecent proposal to the housewife sending her a vulgar picture through SMS in his mobile.
Several days ago, Mehedi also hung some obscene posters mentioning name of the housewife at different places of the area.
Family of the housewife with help of local people caught Mehedi on Sunday noon and handed him over to the police. Police produced him in the court the same day.
