7 get life for murder in Kishoreganj
A court here on Tuesday sentenced seven people to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fined Tk 20 thousand, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment in a sensational murder case at Bhairab.
The convicts are Asad Mia, 45, son of late Lal Mia, Sujan Mia, 28, son of late Muslim Mia, Khurshid Mia, 32, son of late Idris Mia, Kala Mia alias Kala Dakat, 40, son of late Musa Mia, Shahin Mia, 30, son of Shahjahan Mia, Jamshed Mia, 30, son of late Idris Mia, and Roni, 14, son of Asad Mia. They hailed from different villages of Bhairab upazila.
Of them six but Kala Mia are in jail.
According to prosecution, a gang entered the house of Faruk Mia of Jagannathpur village in Bhairab at dead of night on July 4, 2006 for looting valuables including gold ornaments. The criminals stabbed Faruk Mia and his wife Irine Begum as they tried to resist them. Later Faruk Mia died at hospital.
