Robbers loot 5 houses
Robbers looted valuables worth over Tk 3 lakh from five houses in Betagi upazila early Sunday.
Police quoting locals said a gang of armed robbers swooped on the houses of Abdur Rahman and Nazrul at Zilbunia village and looted valuables worth about Tk 2 lakh after tying up the members of houses.
The gang at one stage beat up and injured house owner Nazrul and Jesmin Begum as they tried to resist them.
In another incident in Hosnabad village, robbers took away valuables worth Tk one lakh from the houses of Sattar Talukder, Khaleque Talukder and Manu Karigor.
Manu Karigor was injured by the robbers as he tried to resist them.
The injured were admitted to different clinics.
Another report from Gopalganj adds: Police arrested two robbers along with firearms and sharp weapons from Chapail ferry ghat area of Sadar upazila while they were taking preparations to commit a robbery early Sunday.
Additional Police Super intendent Rokonuzzaman said, being tipped off that a gang of robbers numbering 7/8 were going to the town's BSCIC industrial estate to commit robbery a police team led by officer-in-charge M Borhanuddin chased them at about 12:30am in the Ferry ghat area.
The law enforcers arrested two of the gang identified as Meraj of Induhati village of Khulna and Liton of Nijra village of Gopalganj.
