Robbers stab six in Gaibandha, Laxmipur; loot cash, valuables
Robbers stabbed six members of two houses in Gaibandha and Laxmipur early Saturday and looted cash and valuables.
A gang of robbers stormed into a house at the outskirt of Gobindagnaj municipal area and looted cash and valuables worth Tk 3 lakh early Saturday.
The gang numbering 10 to 12 entered the house of one Shahadat Hossain at about 3:30 am breaking open the iron grill.
They stabbed house owner Kazi Shahdat with sharp weapon and injured his wife Shamsunnaher as they tried to resist them.
Then they looted gold ornaments and mobile sets worth over Tk 3 lakh at gun point. While the robbers were fleeing with the booties, shopkeeper Jalaluddin raised a hue and cry. At this the robbers stabbed him and fled the scene.
A case was filed with Gobindagnaj police station. None was arrested till filing of this report yesterday afternoon.
In Laxmipur, robbers looted valuables from a house at Char Jangalia village in Kamalnagar upazila early Saturday.
Police said a gang of 10/12 robbers wearing masks stormed into the house of retired army man Abdul Gani late at night and took the house members hostage at gun point, reports UNB.
They stabbed Abdul Gani, 59, his wife Jahanara Begum and housemaid Nurjahan with sharp weapons as they tried to resist them.
Later, the robbers looted Tk 38,000 in cash, seven tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables and decamped with the booties safely.
The injured were admitted to Laxmipur Modern Hospital. A case was filed.
Another report from Benapole, Jessore adds: Robbers looted valuables from a house at Chhoto Achra here early Saturday.
Police said a gang of robbers equipped with lethal weapons swooped on the house of M Ali after breaking the collapsible gate at about 4:00am and took away Tk one lakh in cash, 10 tolas of gold and other valuables.
Police visited the spot after the incident.
