Robbers loot houses, stab 17 in 3 districts
Robbers have looted three houses and injured 17 people in Narsingdi, Madaripur and Khulna districts.
Robbers looted cash and valuables worth Tk 6 lakh from a house at Saudmara village in Raipura upazila in Narsingdi early yesterday.
Police quoting local people said a gang of robbers numbering 10/12 stormed into the house of Hazrat Ali of the village at about 2.00am, reports UNB.
Five people of the family -- Hazrat Ali, 60, his wife Achhia Begum, 55, two daughters, Amena Begum, 32, and Tania Begum, 18, and son Abdur Rahim, 20, were stabbed indiscriminately by the gang as they tried to resist them.
The robbers later looted cash, gold ornaments, mobile phone sets and other valuables worth Tk 6 lakh and decamped with the booties.
The injured were admitted to Sadar hospital. A case was filed with the police.
In Madaripur, a gang of armed robbers looted valuables from a house injuring five people at Shannashir Char village in Shibchar upazila early yesterday.
Police said the gang numbering 10/12 entered the house of Badal Khalashi, breaking open the door at about 2.00am. They took the members of the house hostage at gun point and looted valuables including 20 tolas of gold ornaments and cash Tk 2.50 lakh.
At one stage, the gang stabbed Shahid Khalashi, 48, Achhia Begum, 55, Nasima, 35, Liton, 28, and Arif, 17, as they tried to resist them.
Later, the robbers fled scene exploding four bombs creating panic in the area.
The injured were rushed to Shibchar health complex.
In Khulna, robbers stormed into the house of a businessman and looted cash and valuables injuring seven members of the house at village Senhati in Dighalia upazila early Thursday.
Locals said about of 15/20 robbers entered the house of Sheikh Tayezuddin breaking open the door at about 3.00am. They beat and stabbed the members of the house indiscriminately leaving Tayezuddin, 58, Sheikh Akram Hossain, 52, Mamun, 22, Murshida, 45, Raju, 32, Laily, 48, and Eti, 25, critically injured.
Later, the gang looted cash, gold ornaments, mobile phone sets and other valuables and decamped with the booties safely.
On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the injured people to the local health complex with the help of local people.
Police arrested one Kibria of the area suspecting his involvement in the robbery.
