Fugitive convict arrested
A fugitive, convicted in a case for misappropriation of money, was arrested at Ghughudima village under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila early yesterday.
The arrestee is Saiful Islam, 30, son of Abdul Haque of Ghughudima village under the upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided Saiful's house at around 5:00 am and arrested him, said duty officer of Sadar Police Station ASI Saiful Islam.
Saiful was the president of Ghughudima Uttar Samabaya Samity. He was sentenced to five years' imprisonment in 2009 in a case filed by the members of the samity against him for misappropriating money from samity's fund.
He remained absconding since filing of the case with Chapainawabganj magistrate's court in 2003.
