Pirates abduct 4 fishermen
Pirates of the Sundarbans kidnapped four fishermen from Karamjol under Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district on Wednesday.
The abducted fishermen are Shahidul Islam Ratan, 24, Firoze Sheikh, 22, Moula Khan, 28, and Raju Sarder, 20. They all hail from Katakhali village under Rampal upazila of the district.
According to police, a gang of six belonging to Palash Bahini of the Sundarbans kidnapped the fishermen at gunpoint.
Later, one of the pirates sent a message over cellphone to Abdul Hakim, father of Shahidul Islam Ratan, demanding Tk two lakh ransom for release of his son, police said.
