Two BCL men were expelled from the party in Tangail on rape charge on Sunday. BCL Tangail district unit expelled its Sakhipur upazila unit Joint Convenor Habibullah Itihas and member Arif Ahmed on charge of raping a teenage girl at upazila headquarters on July 4. Nazmul Huda Nobin and Istiaque Ahmed Rajib, BCL district unit president and general secretary, announced the expulsion of the two in a press release on Sunday evening. "We expelled the two on the basis of allegation brought by the victim and a police case filed against them," the district BCL leaders said. According to case statement, Habibullah Itihas with the help of his three accomplices--Arif, Akash and Babu-- forcibly took the girl of Kaharta village under Sakhipur upazila to a student mess at the upazila headquarter on July 4 and raped her. Immediately after the incident, the victim went to the Sakhipur police station and filed a rape case against the four. Police arrested Akash the same day while the rest have been absconding since filing of the case.
