Activist injured in Pabna
An injured Jubo League leader of Jhenidah died while an activist of the party received serious injury in Pabna yesterday.
In Jhenidah, a local leader of Jubo League, injured in a bomb attack at Kashimnagar village in Sadar upazila on July 7, died at a hospital in the capital yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The victim was identified as Zakir Hossain Shanti, 38, Jubo League general secretary of Ganna union of Sadar upazila and a resident of Kashimnagar village.
Some unknown criminals threw two bombs at him on his way back home from Ganna bazaar at about 9:30pm on July7, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Sadar Hospital. He was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later sent to Renaissance Hospital in city's Dhanmondi where he died at 9:00am yesterday.
In Pabna, a Jubo League activist received bullet injury as two rival factions of the party clashed in Banglabazar area under Sadar upazila at about 5pm yesterday, reports our Correspondent.
Injured Md Mukter Hossain, 30, was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital yesterday evening in critical condition.
Police said the clash took place between Sohel group and Mokter group over establishing supremacy in the area. Both groups opened fire at their rivals and Mokter received bullet during the gunfight, said sub inspector Moniruzzaman of Pabna police station.
Contacted, Pabna district unit Jubo League president Sharif Uddin Pradhan said Mokter is an activist of the party. It was not a political clash, Sharif claimed.
