Charge framing against 153 Satkania BDR mutineers next yr

A special court-4 of Bangladesh Rifles trying BDR mutiny cases yesterday fixed March 6, 2011 for charge framing against 153 jawans of Rifles Training Centre and School (RTC&S) at Satkania in the district. The three-member court led by BDR Director General Maj Gen Md Rafiqul Islam sat at about 9:00am and continued till 11:22am. The court read out the charges against the accused in their presence and also ordered to put them in Chittagong jail. Of the 153 accused, 75 were arrested earlier while the rest 78 were arrested from the training center Wednesday as per the court order. Earlier on Wednesday, Plaintiff Shariful Islam, a BDR nayak subedar, made the charges against the accused. The charges include arms loot from armoury; attempt to murder; ransacking at officers' mess and creating panic. The prosecutor told the court that the jawans at RTC&S expressed solidarity with the mutineers at Pilkhana headquarters in Dhaka. The two other members of the court are Lt Col Md Abdur Rouf and Major AZ Golam Mostafa Al Mamun. Deputy Attorney General Kazi Md Izharul Haq assisted the court as a representative of attorney general's office.
