Boy drowns in pond
An 18-month-old boy drowned in a pond at Sambalkati village under Sadar upazila of the district yesterday. Local people and family sources said Anik, son of Sameeran Halder, was playing near the pond adjacent to the house at around 8:00am. Suddenly, he fell into the pond and drowned. In another incident, Tuhin, 18, a rickshawpuller, drowned while he was swimming along with his friends in the Sugandha River at Krishnakati village near the district town yesterday. Family sources said Tuhin, hailed from Gopalganj district, was an epilepsy patient.
