Robbery at Khagrachhari Janata Bank
Robbers on Thursday night looted Tk 23 lakh and 74 thousand from the vault of Janata Bank branch in the town.
Khagrachhari Sadar police arrested Milon Ahmed Chowdhury, night guard of the bank branch after the incident.
Janata Bank sources said, the incident of robbery came to light when cashier Mohammad Abdul Hye Mollah went to office with other officials and staff at 10: 25 am on Saturday to complete classification statement of last three months. They found the vault open and all the money looted from it.
Police rushed to the spot following a call from the cashier and arrested the night guard.
Night guard Milon, however, denied his involvement with the robbery. He told the reporters that a gang offered him sweets Thursday evening at Rangabon Hotel in hill town Khagrachhari might be involved with the incident.
