Lightning kills 3 in Sirajganj, Manikganj

Lightning killed three people in Sirajganj and Manikganj on Wednesday and the day before. A farmer was killed by lightning at Baniabahu village in Tarash upazila on Wednesday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Tojam Ali, 40, of the village. Locals said a thunderbolt struck him while he was fishing in a pond beside his house in the morning, leaving him dead on the spot. In another incident in the same upazila, a cow of farmer Nawazesh Ali at Bhikampur village and two cows of Saiful Islam of Washin village were killed by lightning in the morning. In Manikganj, two people were killed and two others injured by lightning in Harirampur upazila on Tuesday. Locals said Harun Mollah, 55, of village Shikarpur was killed as a thunderbolt struck him while he was fishing in a pond. Another victim, identified as Sohrab Hossain, 16, of the village died on the spot when lightning struck him on his way home from cropland along with his cow. In the same upazila at Daskandi village, Lakshmi Rani, 36, and her son Subash Chandra, 12, were critically injured in lightning at noon. They were admitted to the upazila health complex. In yet another incident, Mofazzal Molah, 30, of Raghunathpur village of the upazila died and other three were injured when their boat capsized at Char Enayetpur area in the evening.
