Over 200 Jamaat men sued in Pabna
Police yesterday sued over 200 leaders and activists of Pabna Jamaat, including its district ameer and secretary, in connection with creating panic and trying to deteriorate law and order.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Pabna Police Station Md Anwar Hossain, the investigation officer of the case, said Ameer of Pabna Jamaat Abdur Rahim, Secretary Abu Taleb Mondol, Ameer of Pabna Sadar upazila Jamaat Abdul Goffar and leader Abid Hasan Dulal are among the accused.
The case was filed under Speedy Trial Tribunal Act. Of the accused, only 20 were named and the rest were unidentified.
Police arrested Abdul Goffar and 11 other Jamaat activists on Wednesday at a rally, added the SI.
The investigation officer said most of the top-ranking Jamaat leaders are on the run to avoid detention. Police is on the hunt to capture the accused.
