Another BNP leader held in Khagrachhari
Khagrachhari Sadar police yesterday arrested one more BNP leader from his Kalabagan residence under Sadar upazila in connection with the arson attack on February 23 last year.
The attack left one person killed, 50 injured and 33 houses burnt.
Arrestee Mohammad Kamal alias Pasha is joint secretary of Khagrachhari Municipality BNP.
Sadar police station sources said, acting on a tip-off, they arrested Pasha early yesterday and later produced him before Chief Judicial Magistrate Court which sent him to Khagrachhari district jail.
Earlier on February 24, police arrested Municipality BNP convener and councilor of Khagrachhari BNP Abdur Rob Raza, District BNP vice president Abul Kashem, Sadar Upazila BNP member Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Dighinala Upazila BNP president Mohammad Abu Takeb and two other leaders on same allegation.
Later they were granted bail, court sources said.
