Five get life for killing schoolboy in Madaripur
A court on Monday convicted five people and sentenced them to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) for killing a schoolboy in 2007.
The lifers are Al Amin Khan, 25, Yakub Ali Khan, 60, Afzal Khan,22, Shahjamal, 23, and Mosharref Khan, 24.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more RI.
According to the prosecution, Sumon, a student of class IX and son of Soleman Yunus of Kulpuddi village in Sadar upazila, was bludgeoned to death by Al Amin Khan and his accomplices on June 26 in 2007.
Later a case was filed in this connection accusing nine people.
After examining all records and witnesses, the District and Sessions Judge of Madaripur, M Ataur Rahman pronounced the verdict acquitting four others.
