Lightning kills 4 in two dists

Lightning killed four people in Madaripur and Chapainawabganj districts yesterday. A man and his daughter were killed and seven school students were injured as a lightning struck them at Shibchar of Madaripur district yesterday noon, reports a correspondent. Police and hospital sources said Hashem Hawlader, 70, and his daughter Rahela Begum, 35 were struck by lightning when they were sitting on the verandah of their house at Kamalapur village under Umedpur in Shibchar yesterday noon. They died on the spot. Assistant teacher of Umedpur Girl's High School Monir Hossain said students of class ten Tanjila, Sonia, Moushumi, Nupur, Emily, student of Class Seven Runa and student of class six Shilpi fainted at the loud sound of lightning while they were attending classes. They have been admitted to upazila health complex. In Chapainawabganj, two people were killed and another was injured as lightning struck than at Shimultala in Sadar upazila yesterday. The deceased were identified as Zillur and Sabur of the area, reports UNB. Local sources said, a thunderbolt hit Zillur and Sabur at about 1.30am while they were guarding a mango orchard during rain, leaving them dead on the spot and an adolescent boy injured. Injured Samad, 11 has been admitted to Sadar hospital.
