KCC announces Tk 159cr budget
Khulna City Corporation (KCC) announced a proposed budget of Tk 159. 19crore for fiscal year 2010-11 at Nagar Bhaban conference room yesterday.
Announcing the budget, city Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque said that the budget is a development-oriented one aiming at providing better civic facilities to the city dwellers.
No new tax has been imposed in the budget but KCC is determined to realise arrears while increasing income from own resources, he said.
According to the budget, Tk 50.91 crore will come from revenue while the rest Tk 108.28 crore will be provided by the government as grant to meet the development expenditure.
Tk 16 crore 37 lakh has been earmarked for improving drainage and water supply systems, Tk 2.46 crore for sanitary project, Tk 4.21 crore for construction of park on the bank of the Mayur river and Tk 1.12 crore for implementation of the project to solve waterlogging problem, he added.
“Besides, we have submitted a proposal to the government to include in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 12 projects worth Tk 411.21 crore for implementation of different development and service-oriented projects, the mayor said.
Panel Mayors, ward councillors, journalists, leaders of different professional organisations and officials of KCC were present.
