Lightning kills 4 farmers in Bogra, Satkhira
Lighting killed at least four farmers and injured five others in Bogra and Satkhira districts yesterday.
A least two farmers were killed and four others seriously injured by lightning at Parashla village under Shibganj upazila in Bogra yesterday, reports our staff correspondent.
The victims were identified as Jalal Uddin, 35, and Delwar Pramanik, 25.
Local sources said the two farmers along with four others went to a paddy field to collect seedlings.
A lighting struck Jalal and Delwar killing both on the spot.
Mojidul Haq, 35, Jakirul, 30, Nazmul, 25, and Younus, 24 who received serious injuries were admitted to the Shibganj upazila health complex and Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical Collage and hospital in critical condition.
In Satkhira, two farmers were killed and another was injured by lightning in separate incidents in Sadar upazila yesterday, according to our correspondent.
The victims were identified as Safiqul Islam, 32, son of Md. Sader Ali of village Itagachha and Mozam Sardar, 30, son of Rajob Sardar of village Parmachhkhola.
Injured Abdul Alim, 25, son of Rajob Sardar was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital in critical condition.
Quoting locals police said, lightning struck Safiqul Islam while at work at his paddy field in Bakal area killing him on the spot.
In the other incident, Mozam Sardar and his younger brother Abdul Alim while ploughing their field at this village were struck by a lightning.
Mozam Sardar and a bullock died on the spot while Alim received serious injury.
