BCL men ransack college rooms
Activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Wednesday ransacked several rooms of Habiganj Government Brindabon College protesting what they said 'irregularities in admission process'.
College principal Bijit Kumar Bhattacharya said a five-member committee, formed to probe alleged irregularities after investigation on Tuesday found that two students got admitted into the college by forging five signatures of the admission recommendation committee.
Separate letters canceling the admission of the two students were sent to their address Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, BCL activists ransacked a number of rooms of the college at noon protesting 'late action' by authorities to cancel the admission of the two admission seekers.
The college authorities formed a three-member committee to investigate the unruly incident.
In Satkhira, five activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were injured seriously as ruling party backed Chhatra League (BCL) allegedly launched attack on their procession in bus stand area of Shyamnagar upazila on Tuesday noon.
Kudrat-e-Elahi, upazila joint convener of JCD said, as part of the party central programme they brought out a procession protesting the recent attack on JCD activists by BCL men at Madhur Canteen in Dhaka University.
Witnesses said when the procession was crossing the bus stand area, a group of BCL activists, numbering 60/70 and equipped with lethal weapons, launched an attack on them at about noon, leaving five JCD activists injured.
Later, critically injured Helal, Kudrat-e-Elahi and Kismat were rushed to Sadar hospital while Sohel and Belal were rushed to Shyamnagar health complex.
