15 injured in clash
At least 15 people were injured and 20 houses damaged in a clash between two rival groups at Khadurail village in Bijoynagar upazila on Tuesday. Police quoting locals said there was a longstanding conflict between two groups -- one led by sitting UP chairman Haji Akter Hossain and another by ex-UP chairman Ziaul Haque Bakul over establishing supremacy in the village. As a sequel to the conflict, supporters of both the groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other that left at least 15 people injured and 20 houses damaged and looted at around 8.00 am. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control firing 6/7 rubber bullets and charging batons.
