One held on bribery charge
A team of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested Shahnaz Begum, a clerk of district primary education office on charge of taking bribe from a retired teacher of a primary school.
Major Azam, divisional director (Bogra) of ACC arrested the clerk from her office along with the bribe money of Tk 1000. Later, she was taken to Rangpur Kotwali police station where deputy director of ACC of Rangpur Kamrul Ahsan lodged a case in this connection.
Major Azam said, a retired teacher of a primary school submitted his papers to the office for pension gratuity. Shahnaz kept him waiting for long and finally demanded Tk 1000 to complete the process, he added.
The schoolteacher informed ACC office in Bogra about the matter over cell phone.
Accordingly, the ACC team in plainclothes went to the office. They caught Shahnaz red-handed and recovered the money from a drawer of her table.
