20kg silver seized, 1 held
Members of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) arrested a 'smuggler' along with 20kg Indian silver from Waria village in Sadar upazila Friday. Arrestee Mokhlesur Rahman is son of Anwar Ali of Bamdah village in the upazila. Acting on a tip-off, a team from Jhaodanga BDR camp raided the village at about 10:00am and arrested Mokhlesur while he was going to Dhaka by a motorbike. Later, the border guards recovered the silver from his possession and also seized the bike. The seized goods were handed over to local customs and a case was filed in this connection.
