'Suicide' in custody
An accused in a murder case allegedly committed suicide at the toilet of Keraniganj model police station early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Manik Mia alias Lutfar, 38, son of Adu Mia of Munshi Nuarda village under the police station.
Police said, SI Zahidur Rahman arrested Manik, Anwar and Aslam in the sensational Nazma murder case on Sunday at 11:00pm and brought them to the police station.
Zahidur, also investigation officer of the case, said Anwar and Aslam confessed during interrogation that Manik burnt his neighbour Nazma to death 20 days ago due to previous enmity.
After disclosing his involvement in the murder, Manik went to the toilet and committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of the toilet, he added.
Meanwhile, the victim's relatives alleged that Manik died due to severe torture at the police custody late at night.
