Boy rescued, two abductors held

A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-9) team on Saturday rescued an abducted schoolboy and arrested two in connection with the abduction from Ishwarganj upazila headquarters. The two arrestees are Mizanur Rahman Khokon, 30, son of Dr Md Chand Miah of Uttampur village and Babul Miah, 30, son of Wazed Ali of Harua village in Ishwarganj. Mohammad Jishan, 7, son of Md Helal Mollah was abducted from Ashulia in Dhaka on his way to school in the morning of January 28. Rab sources said, on the day when Jishan, a student of class three did not return home till evening, his parents searched all possible places and later filed a general diary with the local police station. Later a gang contacted Jishan's parents over cell phone and demanded Tk 50,000 as ransom. The victim's father informed Rab-9 immediately. On secret information, a team led by Rab commander Major Md Javed Miah in an operation located the place where the boy was kept. The Rab team then nabbed the culprits from the spot adjacent to a bridge of the upazila at around 10:30 yesterday morning and rescued the boy.
