AL leaders 'grab' land in Satkhira
Local Awami League (AL) leaders yesterday allegedly occupied three bighas of land owned by one Emdadul Haque at Panchnol village in Kalaroa upazila.
Emdad said, although it was his ancestral property, a case was pending with a court at Satkhira as local AL leaders demanded the ownership of the land.
He said, an armed gang of about 60 led by local AL leaders of Bamankhali in Kalaroa occupied the land and fenced it with bamboo sticks early morning yesterday.
He alleged that he informed police about the matter but they did not take any action against the land grabbers as they belong to ruling AL.
Contacted, Kalaroa police station officer-in-charge (OC) Enamul Haque confirmed the incident and said they took necessary steps to avoid any untoward incident over the land.
He, however, said police have nothing to do at the moment as a case has been pending with court.
