Arms recovered in 5 districts
Eight people have been arrested in Satkhira, Chapainawabganj, Benapole, Bogra and Savar in Dhaka along with arms.
Our Correspondent in Satkhira reports: Rab yesterday recovered nine firearms and eight bullets and arrested two people from Dhebukhali area in Debhata upazila.
The arrestees are Alamgir Hossain, son of Ruhul Amin and Abdus Samad, son of Abu Salek Moral of village Kalabagi in the upazila.
The elite force seized five country-made guns and four pistols, 10 bullets and two billhooks from the houses of robber Akram of village Kalabagi and Ziad Ali and his son Hasan of village Baburabad.
Acting on a tip-off, the members of Rab-6 raided their houses and arrested two people with arms and ammunition, according to police.
However, sensing presence of Rab, Akram, Ziad Ali and Hasan fled their houses.
Rab and police sources said the arrestees are involved in grabbing lands, looting and snatching in the area.
In Chapainawabganj, police arrested one youth with arms and ammunition at Shantir More (intersection) in the town.
Arrestee Shahidul Islam, 34, is son of Julmot Ali of Rehaichar in the municipal area, reports our correspondent.
Police said, Shahidul and four other youths went to Shantir More microbus stand at around 10:30 am by two motorbikes. As they were trying to abduct micro driver Alim from the spot, locals caught red-handed Shahidul with arms but others fled the scene.
Police rushed to the spot and arrested him and recovered one pistol and five bullets from his possession.
A correspondent in Benapole reports: An arms peddler was arrested along with a pistol at Goyra village here yesterday morning.
Acting on secret information, police searched the body of Alamgir,35, son of Azhar Ali of the village and seized the pistol.
Our Staff Correspondent in Bogra reports: Sadar police yesterday arrested two youths and recovered locally made arms from their possession.
Yakub Ali, 22, and Md Rasik Ahmed Apon, 20, were arrested at around 7:30 pm from Namazgarh while they were preparing for mugging.
Police recovered a Chinese machete and an 18-inch long locally made knife from them.
In Savar, one person was arrested along with a revolver from Chikandia village in Ashulia police station on Sunday night, according to UNB.
The arrestee was identified as Kushum Molla of the area.
Acting on a tip-off, Rab personnel raided the area and arrested Kushum Molla, police said.
As per his confession, the elite force recovered a revolver and four bullets from a sand-pile in the same area.
Later, he was handed over to police. A case was filed under Arms Act.
