10 BNP men hurt in clashes with AL
At least 10 leaders and activists of opposition BNP were injured in clashes with ruling party men in Lalmonirhat and Satkhira districts on Tuesday.
A Correspondent from Lalmonirhat reports: Three people were injured on Tuesday morning in a clash between opposition BNP ruling Awami League (AL) at BDR railway gate in the town.
The AL men in a fresh attack yesterday damaged a nursery owned by a BNP man at the same place.
The three injured in Tuesday's clash are district convener of Tarun League Mizanur Rahman Mizan, district Jubo Dal activist Sanaul Miah Sana and his younger brother Rasel Miah, police said.
BNP and locals said, Mizan asked Jubo Dal activist Sana for handing over the lease of railway land at BDR railway gate but he refused to do so. At this, Mizan organised a gang of 8/ 10 members of Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League and attacked BNP activists and damaged the nursery on Tuesday night.
A gang of 30-35 AL men again attacked the nursery and fully damaged at yesterday noon, witnesses said.
Mizan, however, denied the allegation and said Sana and his gang launched attack on him.
Our Correspondent in Satkhira reports: At least eight BNP leaders and activists were injured as a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) attacked a meeting of Shyamnagar upazila BNP at its office yesterday evening.
They also damaged the furniture of local BNP office.
Of the injured, Shyamnagar Sadar union BNP organising secretary Khan Abdus Sabur, Kashimari union BNP secretary Waliullah Bablu, Kaikhali union BNP president Abul Khair, Ramzannagar union BNP leader Abu Bakkar and local JCD leader Mithu were admitted to Shyamnagar upazila health complex.
Shyamnagar JCD president Masudul Doha alleged that BCL leaders led by Sayeed, Liton and Rob attacked the BNP office for nothing and threw stones and brickbats at the BNP leaders.
BCL leader Maruf said a group of JCD leaders led by Bhurulia union JCD president Siddique attacked the BCL leaders while they were sitting in front of a shop at Muktijoddha Road and fled away as the BCL men chased them.
As Siddique and others took shelter at the BNP office the BCL activists went there in search of the JCD attackers. He, however, said that some outsiders pelted stones at the office.
