Jasim Pallimela concludes in Faridpur
Fortnight long 'Jasim Pallimela' organised jointly by the district administration and Jasim Foundation coinciding the 107th birth anniversary of Poet Jasimuddin concluded here on Monday at Ambikapur on the outskirts of the town.
Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Dr Khondoker Shawkat Hossain addressed the concluding ceremony of function on the mela premises as the chief guest.
The divisional commissioner said the writings of Jasimuddin are immortal. They gave the Bengali literature a new dimension.
He further said no other writings depicted the rural Bangla so vividly and so lively like Jasimuddin's.
He also thanked the organisers for arranging a pleasant village fair, a source of recreation for village people. It can be compared with any fair of national level, he added.
The concluding function was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Helaluddin Ahmed who disclosed that construction of Jasim Complex adjacent to the ancestral home of the Poet Jasimuddin would start soon.
In the complex the works of Jasimuddin and other related materials would be preserved for the future generation.
