Drug peddler jailed
A court here on Wednesday sentenced a female drug peddler to life term imprisonment for possessing heroin. The court also fined her Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer four years more in jail. Convict Jotsna Begum, 40, is wife of robber Jamshed of Bhatpara in the city. Jamshed was recently killed in a gunfight with Rab. Her brother Anu was also an infamous robber while father Majid was jailed for robbery. According to the prosecution, a team of Rab-9 arrested Jotsna along with small packets of heroin from her house on January 11, 2007. A case was filed. After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge M Belayet Ullah handed down the verdict.
