Body of RU female student found in mass graveyard

Police yesterday recovered body of a female student of Rajshahi University (RU) from the university mass graveyard. Shamsad Parveen alias Anu was a second year student of pharmacy department and daughter of Abdul Jalil Mia of Kadirpara, Noupara, Madhukhali under Faridpur district. Police also recovered the mobile phone and identity card of the hapless student. Her body was found at about 3:00pm beside the rail line adjacent to the university mass graveyard, police said. The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) morgue for autopsy. Locals said, they saw the female student talking over mobile phone near the rail line alone at around 2.00pm. She might have committed suicide under a running train, they added. RU proctorial body along with police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Saidul Islam Arman, a classmate of Anu said they saw her at their department at noon. Anu was residing at a private mess near Binodpur area, he said. RU proctor Prof Chowdhury Zakaria said, the incident will be investigated while officer-in-charge (OC) of Motihar police station Tofazzel Hossain observed that the student might have committed suicide due to personal reasons. “We will take legal steps after investigating the matter,” he added. An unnatural death (UD) case will be lodged in this connection, the OC said.
