Expatriate's house looted in N'ganj
Armed robbers looted cash and valuables worth about Tk four lakh from the house of an expatriate at Mijimiji Painadi under Siddhirganj of Narayanganj Sadar upazila yesterday.
The robbers held the inmates of the house hostage at gunpoint and looted Tk one lakh, eight tolas of gold ornaments and four mobile phone sets.
House owner's wife Rumi was injured by the robbers as she protested and raised a hue and cry. She also scuffled with a robber.
Locals chased the robbers and caught one Mamun, 28. They gave him a good beating and handed over to police.
Neighbours said, a gang of seven to eight armed robbers attacked the house of Singapore expatriate Fazlul Haque early yesterday.
The robbers climbed the roof of the one-storied building using a ladder. As the inmates, sensing presence of the robbers, went up to the roof the robbers took them hostage at gunpoint and tied their hands and legs.
