Charge framing against 4 in Feb, 5 chargesheeted

Charges will be framed against four militants of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Sylhet next month while five others of the outlawed Islamist outfit were charge sheeted in Jhalakathi on Sunday. Our Staff Correspondent in Sylhet reports: A Habiganj court will frame charges on February 1 against four JMB men in the case for August 17 series bomb blasts in Habiganj town. District and Sessions Judge Mahbub Ul Alam, also the special tribunal judge, fixed the date yesterday. Earlier, four JMB operatives--chief of IT section AHM Shamim, also son of JMB chief Moulana Saidur Rahman, Azizul Islam alias Aziz, Hafez Ozaifa, Md Belal Hossain Tamim were produced in the court yesterday. Besides them, chargesheeted accused Moulana Saidur Rahman, Shafiqul Islam and Salah Uddin alias Salehin are still at large. On August 17, 2005, bombs were exploded at five points including the DC office premises in Habiganj district town. Five cases were filed and police submitted charge sheet against the seven JMB men for the series blasts. UNB from Jhalakathi reports: Police submitted charge sheet against five Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh men in public prosecutor (PP) Haider Hossain murder case on Sunday. Of the accused, Murad Hossain, 20, of Khulna, Abu Shahadat M Tanveer, 31, of Barguna are in jail while Bellal Hossain, 27, an Imam of Jhalkathi Gazibari mosque, Sagir Hossain Bhuiyan, 38, and Aminul alias Amir Hossain, 37, of Dakkhin Khan in Dhaka city are still at large. CID sub-inspector Mosharaf Hossain, fifth investigation officer of the murder case, submitted the charge sheet against the five accused in the senior judicial magistrate's court. PP Haider Hossain, who was conducting the judge killing case, was shot dead by the JMB activists while he was returning home from a nearby mosque on April 11, 2007.
