20 injured as BCL, Shibir lock in clash in Sylhet
Twenty people including a teacher of Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) were injured in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Islami Chhatra Shibir yesterday.
Of the injured, 10 were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital while others treated at the university medical centre.
The clash erupted as a BCL man was beaten up by Shibir activists following an argument on triffling matter at the dining hall in the morning.
Assistant professor Sultan Ahmed of department of microbiology also sustained injuries during brickbats.
The BCL activists forced the Shibir activists out of the campus at about 12:00 noon.
They then vandalised about 20 rooms in Saifur Rahman Hall and in another dormitory.
