Man with coronavirus symptoms dies at isolation ward in Chandpur
A 33-year-old man, who was in an isolation ward at a hospital in Chandpur with coronavirus symptoms, died this morning.
The patient breathed his last at the 250-bed General Hospital in Chandpur around 7:55am, said Dr Sujauddoula Rubel, residential medical officer (RMO) of the hospital.
The man, hailing from Harina area of the upazila, was admitted to the hospital early today as he was suffering from fever and respiratory problem, said the RMO.
Later, he was shifted to the isolation ward of the hospital as a suspected coronavirus patient, said Sujauddoula.
Quoting family members of the deceased, the medical officer said the man had been suffering from fever for five days after he returned home from Dhaka.
He was taken to the hospital as his physical condition deteriorated, added the RMO.
Dr M Habibul Karim, supervisor of the hospital, said they collected samples from the deceased to ensure whether he was infected with coronavirus.
Majedur Rahman Khan, deputy commissioner of Chandpur, said the body will be buried as a suspected coronavirus patient under the supervision of the district administration.
