Man kills 3, including wife, in Narsingdi
A man allegedly stabbed three people, including his wife and house owner, to death in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi early today.
The three deceased are: Nazma Akter (42), wife of Badal Mia, house owner Tajul Islam (58) and Tajul's wife Monoara Begum (48).
Two others -- Nazma's son Sohag (15) and Tajul's daughter Kulsum (23) -- were also injured in the incident at Kumardi village under Putia union.
Police detained the alleged attacker Badal Mia from the village, our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting police.
Abul Kalam, inspector (Investigation) of Shibpur Police Station, said Badal -- a carpenter by profession -- along with family members had been living in a rented house owned by Tajul Islam in Kumradi village for long.
Badal and his wife Najma often fought over family matters, said the OC quoting neighbours.
Around 4:30am today, Badal was arguing with his wife, and at one stage stabbed Najma with a knife indiscriminately, leaving her critically injured.
Hearing her screams, landlord Tajul, his wife Monoara and their daughter Kulsum rushed to the spot and tried to save Najma.
Badal also stabbed the trio and his son Sohag as they tried to stop him, said the police.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Najma and Monoara Begum dead, said the OC, adding that Tajul died on the way to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Locals also caught Badal and beat him up before handing him over to the police, added our correspondent.
