Mahfuz Anam, an editor of great value

For decades, I have been an avid reader of The Daily Star. I go through every published editorial and especially the commentaries written by Mahfuz Anam. During the CTG, I read every write-up penned by Mr. Anam. I found him a courageous fighter for the cause of establishing democracy in the country. In this regard, there are ample examples. 

Recently he made an introspective comment about his mistakes, but he never shared the circumstances under which he was compelled to do so. Making a mistake in a situation which was not under his control and admitting the mistake taking all the blame upon him is a courageous act. This, I believe, proves his magnanimity. It's an irony that we do not appreciate the honesty and courage of those who confess to their mistakes.
