Journalist beaten up in Habiganj
A local journalist was injured when he was attacked by some youths in Habiganj town.
Victim Tarek Habib is the chief reporter of Daily Amar Habiganj, a local newspaper, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports.
He came under attack when he was returning to his office by rickshaw after attending an event yesterday afternoon.
Wielding rods, hockey sticks and wooden sticks, some five to seven youths suddenly stopped him at Shanir Akhra and beat him indiscriminately, Habib said.
The attackers also snatched away his mobile phone and money, he added.
Later, locals rescued him and took him to Habiganj Sadar Hospital.
Journalist Habib said that the attackers are known to him and mentioned two names -- Suhel and Shaon -- among them. There was no previous enmity between the journalist and the duo, the victim added.
A case was filed with the local police station against the four identified and three unknown people around 10:00pm yesterday, said Md Masuk Ali, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
